A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run in Reseda on Wednesday, August 24.
The man, Erwan McKeown, of Agoura Hills, was struck at about 6:45 am at the corner of Tampa Avenue and West Vanowen Street and died at the scene, KTLA reported.
According to police, McKeown and his motorcycle slammed into the truck while the truck was turning at the intersection before the truck sped off.
“The responsibility of the driver of that truck was to remain at the scene. He chose not to,” Bill Bustos of the Los Angeles police said in a statement. “He was in the best position to call 911, to call paramedics, and that did not occur. He decided to ride his truck westbound while failing to render aid, becoming a felony hit-and-run crime.”
After a brief search for a suspect in a white pickup truck with front metal panels, a suspect turned himself into police.
The man, Pedro Ramos, 54, of San Fernando, turned himself in for the fatal hit-and-run the following day. Ramos was arrested for felony hit-and-run and is now being held on $50,000 bail.
